Held at Commonwealth Charter Academy in Homestead, the conference was again put on by NAMI Keystone

A father of two, James Huguley said he takes time to remind his children of their legacy and resilience as a young Black man and woman.

It’s empowering, he told the 200-plus attendees of Thursday’s Black Mental Health Summit, to recognize what has historically been done to Black people and “who we still became.”

That, said Mr. Huguley, the conference’s keynote speaker and an associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, “is the greatness that lies within you.”
