Connor’s Crusade is more than just presents

Connor Buzzelli is giving more than just gifts to young individuals hospitalized in Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. He is giving hope.

Connor remembers how scary it was for him when he was hospitalized, trying to understand what it meant to have a mental health diagnosis and wondering what his future might look like. As he began his path to wellness, he was compelled to help those who were feeling just as he did. He and his mother Beth (who also volunteers her time as NAMI FamilytoFamily teacher) began the Crusade last year. Their intent was to support the kids who were in the hospital so that they didn’t feel lonely and isolated, knowing that some of them would not be with family during the holidays. What Connor didn’t realize is that his kindness and courage would also serve as inspiration to those who are just beginning their journey towards recovery.
